The Data Stewardship Wizard is online

Our first platform for the joint projects is online: the Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW). All eight projects can now create accounts and projects.

The DSW is an open-source platform that guides a project through its data management plan with an interactive questionnaire. After registering, a short tour walks through the first project. A project can be deleted at any time, and colleagues can create their own accounts and answer the questions together with the team.

The DSW helps everyone visualise what is still open in a project's data management plan, where something needs to be clarified internally, or when something requires an expert opinion. Nobody needs an answer to everything: no question is mandatory, and a report can be generated even with open questions. Our goal is to add the DFG requirements and other German funding formats in the future.

The Data Science Team is going to analyse the answers from the groups, and improve the questionnaire with plain-language descriptions and further scientific sources. Every answer from the participating projects helps us identify potential points of contact between projects, automated workflows to be developed, and new areas of improvement where we can expand the questionnaires, from gender-sensitive questions to ethics applications.
