GenDiMedNet

What do we do?

We turn eight projects into a learning network.

The Network Centre supports the eight joint projects of GenDiMedNet, connects their experiences and perspectives, and works with them to develop solutions for gender-sensitive research and digital medicine. In doing so, we combine data, design research, science communication and networking, and make findings usable for the entire consortium and beyond. Here you can find out how the Network Centre works and what it contributes to the consortium as a whole.

Four perspectives – one shared process: data science, science communication, design research and networking work hand in hand.

Four closely connected areas bring together the network’s work.

Network Centre

We connect the eight joint projects with each other and bring them together with advisory board members, other experts, communities and society at large. This creates exchange, shared learning and new connections beyond individual projects.

Data Science

We support the projects in the quality-assured collection, structuring and use of gender-sensitive data. Together we work on data management, FAIR principles, standards and interoperability, and investigate how gender-sensitive data can be made sustainably usable.

Science Communication

We investigate how scientific findings can be communicated in a way that is understandable, accessible and effective. In doing so, we develop formats and strategies that share knowledge within the consortium and beyond.

Design Research

Using co-creative methods, we develop a roadmap for implementing gender-sensitive approaches in digital medicine.

Connect – Develop – Reflect – Share

  1. Connecting perspectives: We bring projects, advisory board members, stakeholders and society into conversation with each other.

  2. Developing solutions together: We combine data, design research and science communication to address concrete challenges.

  3. Reflecting on experiences scientifically: We examine what works in the projects, which challenges arise and what can be learned from them.

  4. Sharing and applying knowledge: We make findings from the individual projects accessible to the entire consortium and beyond.

Funding

The project “Network platform for gender-sensitive, interactive digital applications in medicine – GenDiMedNet” is a joint project of Bielefeld University, BIH Charité Berlin, University Medicine Greifswald and the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine Hamburg. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) under grant number 16SV9449 from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2029.
